 Subtraction: Decomposition Method

Subtraction is one of the vital mathematical operations. 

Please click on the link below to see the method we teach. It will help you to help your child at home.

If a parent is having difficulty with the decomposition method, contact the school and we will only be too delighted to help out.

Primary 1, 2 and 3 participate in a Paired Maths programme during term one.  Whilst primary 4, 5, 6 and 7 participate during term 3.

 Children bring home a variety of  maths games to play with their parents.



 During February all pupils in St. Columba's enjoy maths games with buddies from other classes. 


Primary 5, 6 and 7 are enjoying the activities and challenges involved on the Mathletics website. Each pupil has their unique username and password and can complete activities at home.
